  • Transgender Medical Services
  • Anchor Health Initiative is a health care provider offering medical services to everyone in the community with particular expertise in the area of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and Transgender medicine. Anchor Health Initiative offers a welcoming, supportive and safe environment for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) community. For many, simply knowing that allies exist can be a big source of support. There is a notary available in both locations.

Anchor Health Initiative is committed to improving the health of trans and gender non-conforming communities. We offer programs that address the unique barriers faced by trans and gender non-conforming clients as well as medical, behavioral health, and case management staff who are sensitive to your needs.
    Primary Care
    • Hormone administration and monitoring
    • HIV & STI testing and counseling
    • Specialized HIV medical care
    • Gynecological screenings and care
    • Breast cancer screening
    • Pharmacy services

By studying best practices across the nation we designed a new care model to better serve our transgender and gender non-conforming patients 18 and older. Our treatment protocol is designed to reduce barriers to care, improve the informed consent process and provide even better services to our community by shortening the process to receive hormone replacement therapy in an affirming and affordable way.

AHI’s treatment protocol will involve 1-2 steps. Patients can request a Hormone Information Appointment when they are in the clinic discuss any specific questions they have about hormone therapy.

Additionally, AHI believes that our patients and clients do not need therapy to make a decision about whether hormone therapy is right for them. Instead, people should be given complete, accurate information, and supported in making their own decisions about whether to get hormone therapy or not.

We hope that this revision in how we offer hormone prescriptions will help reduce unnecessary travel and extra appointments that could be a hardship or a barrier to care for people seeking care from Anchor Health Initiative.

  • LGBTQ therapy to help people love themselves and each other.
  • Whatever your problems are, as LGBTQ counseling specialists, we’d love to help. We have offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and D.C., and worldwide via video conferencing.

    Why LGBTQ People Choose Us

    1. Let’s Face it—no one understands LGBTQ people better than other LGBTQ people.
Therapy with LGBTQ people requires experts like us who understand you. We “get” you, your culture, and your troubles. Not only are we experts at providing therapy for LGBTQ people, we are all LGBTQ ourselves.

    2. Our gay psychologists are highly experienced, have top notch counseling skills, high intelligence, and compassionate hearts.
Our therapists, on average, have 10 years of experience and many have over 20 years. We believe experience matters in therapy, and that therapy with experienced therapists moves more quickly. We have devoted our careers to working with the gay community. It is our passion. Read our testimonials from our clients to see why we are the best LGBTQ therapists.

“GTC is great! Therapy can be really disappointing if the fit between therapist and patient is not good. After attempting to explain grindr to an older female therapist, I knew I needed to get a gay therapist who could understand my experiences. GTC helped to connect me to a therapist who is the perfect fit and who has been incredibly helpful to me for the past year.”

    3. We focus on results.
Our gay counselors don’t just sit and listen (although we do that very well). With our hands-on, interactive approach, we work towards helping you make the changes in yourself, your life, and your relationships so that life can be more fulfilling. We are trained in cutting-edge, research-based methods of LGBTQ therapy that are known to work.

    4. We personally match you.
Getting the right match is very important to the success of therapy. We will talk to you by phone to learn more about your needs and will personally make the match to one of our LGBTQ therapists. And because we have offices in so many neighborhoods, you probably won’t have to travel far for therapy. You won’t have to deal with waiting lists, sifting through profiles, or matching by algorithms.

    5. We are the largest LGBTQ therapy center.
Our 38 LGBTQ therapists work with people from across the globe. We have therapy offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington, D.C. And, we offer coaching services online via Skype to the rest of the world. We have clients from as far away as Australia and Europe. As the largest LGBTQ therapy provider we can offer the most choice of therapists, which means we have a therapist that is right for you.

  • Gender Care
  • I specialize in working with clients who identify as gender non binary, transgender, gender expansive, gender queer, those who aren't quite sure, and perhaps some that I haven't listed here.

Exploring your gender identity is not a sign of mental illness. Though, you may be experiencing some distress and symptoms related to it. For this, many people find gender affirming care highly beneficial.

Sessions may include assessment, exploring your gender identity, as well as affirming care plans related to acceptance and commitment to your gender identity and expression. If affirming medical treatment is a goal of yours, or if you have already begun/undergone treatment (e.g., hormone therapy, surgery), this may require that your primary care provider and I collaborate to a small extent. I regularly write letters for medical treatment (e.g., HRT, affirming surgeries).

Any decisions around your gender affirming care are made collaboratively, and with the highest sensitivity. A care plan may include, if possible, working alongside those closest to you, i.e., intimate partner(s), family members (including those you consider family). As a trained couple and family therapist, I can assist in navigating these tender moments, providing support, resources, and information.

Becoming a therapist has been one of the best decisions in my life. Though, to be honest, I think this work found me. I entered university a poetry major, thinking I'd eventually try my hand at plays and short stories; however, life happened, as it does, pushing me out of formal schooling.

With a journal, my cheap guitar, and a best friend, I spent the next three or so years travelling, working odd jobs, in search for the meaning of life. I eventually returned to study in areas ranging from family development, social policy, communication theory, and Black Feminist literature. I later stumbled into behavioral medicine, met Gregory Bateson's work, studied with Bradford Keeney for two years, and have been enamored with traditional healing ever since.

In the real world, I'm a relational aficionado. I've always been a creative type, musician, and storyteller, but what we do in the therapeutic healing world is much different. It's intimate. Magical. An elegant dance. Occasionally mysterious. Let's face times, it's work.

I'm looking for those who can no longer feel that inner flame. Those who are willing to step with me through the looking glass, ready to change their story.

    Is that you?
